Hawley Retainers

Hawley retainers are made of clear plastic with a thin metal wire that wraps around your front teeth. They're known for their durability and can be adjusted by your orthodontist for minor tweaks. While they're easy to clean, the metal wire can be noticeable and some may experience slight speech difficulties when first wearing them.

Essix Retainers (Clear Retainers)

Essix retainers are nearly invisible, custom-made trays that fit snugly over your teeth. They're comfortable to wear and a great choice for those who prioritize aesthetics. However, they're not as durable as Hawley retainers, require more frequent replacement, and can't be adjusted. Be sure to clean them regularly to avoid staining.

Fixed Retainers

Fixed retainers, also called bonded or permanent retainers, are thin wires glued to the back of your teeth to prevent them from shifting after orthodontic treatment (braces or aligners). They are invisible from the front, require no maintenance (you can't take them out!), but require a dentist to remove if needed.
